If you are taking responsibility for your school’s presence on the Education Platform as a school admin, a common task may be creating teacher accounts for members of staff.
We have built a tool so that you can approach this as a batch process rather than one by one.
This guide will take you through the following steps:
- Make sure you are a School Admin
- Navigate to the administration area and select Bulk User Creation
- Populate your spreadsheet
- Upload your spreadsheet
If you aren’t already, please contact us so that we can make you a school admin. If you’re not sure, we’ll be happy to check and advise you.
When signed-in, navigate to the administration area by selecting "Administration".
Then, select “Bulk User Creation”. If you don't have this option, it's likely that you aren't yet a school admin user.
You will be presented with this screen:
Populating your spreadsheet
As a first step, please download the template spreadsheet by clicking the link “Download the template” and making sure that the file is saved on your computer. This is a CSV file that you can edit with a spreadsheet program such as Microsoft Excel to add in records of teachers.
Follow the instructions on the page to fill out the fields correctly. They are quoted here for convenience:
To upload users to the Education Platform, you must use the following template.
Please ensure that:
- all fields are completed
- only valid email addresses are included
- titles are written with a capital letter and do not include any full stops (The only valid options are: Mr, Mrs, Ms, Miss, Dr and Sir)
- that the column headings are delivered exactly as they are in the template.
This is what the template looks like. Please don't change the naming of the columns as this may cause the upload to fail.

Uploading your spreadsheet
When you are happy with its contents, upload your file by dragging it into the indicated box on the page or by clicking on the “Choose File” button. Then, click the “Submit” button to finish the process.
If you encounter an error here, it is likely to indicate an issue with your sheet. Please feel free to send us your sheet at firstname.lastname@example.org, so that we can assist you with troubleshooting.
Upon successfully uploading your spreadsheet, the Education Platform will create user accounts and send notification emails to the users you have created. Your school's new users will then need to follow the instructions in their emails to set passwords.
